Nightmares or night terrors

Harrison has been struggling with sleep since he was a little baby. Even at 16 months it is rare for him to sleep through the night. He regularly wakes up at about 5am screaming and whimpering. It is a difficult thing to listen to as a mother. I have taken to bringing him into our bed and rubbing his back and talking in soothing tones in his ear. It seems to help, but he still wakes up and screams and tosses. I have also noticed he is beginning to talk in his sleep. Why is something that is so needed for kids, so difficult sometimes?

Those are so hard...you see that he's upset, but there's nothing you can do but try your best to comfort him. Maybe he will grow out of his sleeping issues. I'm so sorry you have to deal with it.

so sorry to hear that Harrison is having nightmares. Have you talked with his pediatrician? He/She may have some advice. It wouldn't hurt I suppose, right?
We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.
